Standard cases are constructed of 7- ply, void free birch plywood with an
ABS laminate. Baltic birch and high pressure laminate option is available
at an increased cost. All cases are available in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" panel
thickness and assembled to better than ATA specifications. Latches and
corners are offset for a better fit and greater strength. Steel backing washers
are used where necessary such as handles, corners and latches. 6 corner
clamp rivets pass entirely through the case, through the inner wall of the
double wall corner extrusion and entirely through the tongue/groove. This
creates an incredibly strong corner joint where the tongue/groove is mitered.
All rivets joining panels to double angle corners and tongue & groove pass
entirely through to the inside of the extrusion.
5/16" bolts are used to attach casters. (3/8" on larger casters) A lot of
companies use cheap 1/4" bolts, usually carriage bolts. All bolts used on
Magnum cases are minimum 5/16" serrated flange bolts. Several longer
flange bolts pass all the way through the casterboard, through the case into
a special tee nut that is mounted to the inside of the case with screws.
Should a bolt ever work loose or break it is easily replaced. Worn casters are
easily replaced in the field as well. All foams used are of 2lb density with the
exception of eggcrate foam.
Doghouses in console cases are not mechanically attached to the case. They
float on foam all the way around and in fact can be taken out of the case
very easily.
Options include locking latches -
both padlock and key, locking
casters, lightweight panel, quick
release caster plates, swing-open
doors in place of standard lids, slam
latch lids, flush lids, stacking cups,
stacking corners, custom graphics,
and custom I/O and AC panel work.
